TNSS & COVID-19

In March 2020, COVID-19 changed the world. Christians who would have never considered “pausing” the regular rhythm of their assembling together found themselves in a holding pattern for weeks and months. In 2020 and 2021, the Singing School Board of Directors carefully weighed federal, state, and local advice and regulation as well the counsel of medical professionals. In both years, legal windows of opportunity with minimal risk were found and the Singing School continued to meet both years. In 2020 we did have daily temperature screenings and a nurse was added to the staff; no masks or vaccinations were required either year. There were no instances of transmission from TNSS either year.

In 2022, there were students and faculty who developed symptoms and tested positive for COVID midweek. They isolated themselves and disclosed their condition to the Board. Immediately, the Board of Directors shared that information with the student body and made the invitation for anyone to leave the Singing School who felt the need to do so. The vast majority of students elected to continue the week and we proceeded. Once participants returned home, about 20 altogether reported COVID symptoms (around 15%).

With the pandemic-level conditions now waning as we approach July 2024, we anticipate another issue-free year. If you have been exposed, test positive, or exhibit symptoms please do not attempt to come as a student or guest to the Singing School. Other than that, we expect no special requirements in regard to COVID-19.
