Friends of the Texas Normal Singing School,

Singing School begins in just three weeks

We have 123 attendees committed thus far with some room for a few more. If you’re still on the fence about coming to Singing School, now is the time to make your plans! It’s also not too late to invite a friend! Scholarships are still available (click here for details).

We have been praying for you, our students, as you prepare to make your way to Abilene, Texas from your homes in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Maine, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Wyoming.

Worship Leader Conference

The details of our 2019 WLC are finally ready for publication. We’re really looking forward to presentations by Gary Moyers, worship minister at the Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas. Previously, Gary has been a vocalist, producer, and executive with the Acapella Company; director of Best Friends, the a cappella performance group from Lubbock Christian University; he has worked with the Moyers Group, a premier audio/video technology consulting and installation firm with offices in Texas and Georgia. He is well-prepared to speak to many areas of interest to worship leaders and church leadership.

More can be read about our very interesting workshop with Gary Moyers – and the incredible BBQ brisket meal that’s included in your registration – by viewing the attachment to this email (or clicking here).

New: T-Shirts!

If you did not order a t-shirt when you registered, you can still order one now by emailing us at ACUSingingSchool@gmail.com with your desired size and quanity. Orders received by 7/8/19 will be ready for pick-up at Abilene.

Graduate Classes

Instructor Robin Entrekin (Madison, Alabama) will be leading the morning class for our graduates this year. Each year this course changes content and focus – staying fresh for our returning graduates.

We’re pleased to announce that Chris McCurley and Jake Sledge from the Oldham Lane Church of Christ (Abilene, Texas) will be joining Robin to lead practical discussions. Click here to read more about this year’s course!

New Faculty

We couldn’t be more excited to announce the addition of Mel Witcher (Austin, Texas) and John von Tungeln (Waipahu, Hawaii) to our teaching faculty. Both of these brothers bring experience, skill, and knowledge to the Singing School and we know they will be a blessing to our students.

Mel will be co-teaching in Music Theory for Song Leaders (MT102), Song Leading 4 (SL401), Advanced Sight Reading (SR201), and he’ll also make an appearance in the Song Writing Lab.

John can be found teaching Music Theory (MT101) and assisting in Song Leading 1 for Teens (SL101T) and The History of Public Worship (MA301).

We welcome back TNSS graduates Dustin Gonzales and Eric Petty who will be teaming up under Dr. Tim Lowry as our video coaching crew in 2019.

Biographies of our current faculty and staff can be found at this page on our website.

Please be in prayer for the many families and individuals who will be making their way to West Texas in a few weeks. Let us not just pray for safety, but for boldness and courage, for open minds and hearts, for our lips to the songs of the Great King (Psalm 137).

Sincerely yours,

The Texas Normal Singing School
